Personal Statement: I have been a patient at Geisinger Medical Center since 1982. My medical history includes two kidney transplants over the past 30 years and I am currently on Hemodialysis (which is performed in my home) awaiting my third transplant. I have previously done peritoneal dialysis with manual bags and with the nighttime cycler. I have completed an eight week training course from the Northeast PA Kidney Foundation in order to counsel newly diagnosed renal failure patients and their families and have also given numerous lectures for Gift of Life to educate both professionals and patients. Throughout my involvement with these programs, I have built a strong network of knowledgeable friends and professionals. Because of this, I am well qualified to contribute to the PCORI project and look forward to sharing my ideas about every step of the research project.
Hobbies/Interests: Woodworking; Computers
Why this project is important to me: To better educate those that are involved in making the deciding factors in a patient's course of treatment and or type of dialysis.
