Personal Statement: As a former research assistant, I developed an interest and passion for health equity while studying and researching diverse identities and LGBTQ+ health disparities at East Carolina University. As a clinical research specialist, SR. within the Division of General Internal Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine, I assist with health behavioral research that aims to reduce disparities in chronic kidney disease (CKD) by improving patient education, self-efficacy and shared decision making. I collaborate with investigators, biostatisticians and other study staff team members to analyze and interpret data to disseminate research manuscripts. I have enjoyed my role and the opportunity to expand my knowledge of CKD disparities and clinical research.
Hobbies/Interests: Traveling; reading; snake keeping; dog training
Why this project is important to me: This project is important to me because it offers promising strategies to improve CKD outcomes, health equity and quality of life for patients and their families.
